At present, we are being strongly affected by the war in the Middle East, like the entire region. Bookings at the Ayurveda Guesthouse are being cancelled, many guests feel uncertain and are postponing or cancelling their trips to Sri Lanka at short notice. As a result, it is expected that in 2026 the guesthouse will make only a small contribution, or none at all, to the funding of the school. At the same time, extreme weather events pose a major challenge: flooding and heavy rainfall have caused significant damage to infrastructure. Classrooms as well as key facilities of the school are in urgent need of renovation.

Kathrin Messner, founder of the one world foundation, emphasises: “Education is the strongest driver of peace and self-determination. The fact that so many artists are dedicating their works to this idea is a powerful sign of lived solidarity.”

The auction was initiated by Galerie Krinzinger and the artist Eva Schlegel. The participation of many renowned artists from Austria, India and Sri Lanka not only underlines the international significance of the auction, but also demonstrates the long-standing connection between the art scene and the one world foundation.

Ursula Krinzinger, who runs the gallery together with her son Thomas, notes: “Art has always had a social dimension. This charity auction combines artistic quality with responsibility, and shows that, as cultural producers, we can make a difference in society.”

All proceeds from the charity auction will go entirely towards these renovation measures as well as the long-term safeguarding of educational work on site. Each artwork auctioned thus makes a direct contribution to the future of the school.

Eva Schlegel, artist, adds: “Art can open up spaces for thinking, for empathy, for responsibility. For me, being part of this auction means contributing through my work in a way that extends beyond the exhibition space.”
