I send you my greetings from a huge construction site, where hammering and painting are currently to be heard instead of children learning and playing.
Urgent repairs are currently being carried out to the preschool classrooms, the children’s playground and the sporting facilities. The computer classrooms are being modernised and the Women’s Cooperation equipped with new material. On top of these expenses, the teachers have to be paid.
We started in 1995 with 100 children, and now over 1,100 children, adolescents and adults attend our Free Education School. The subjects offered are being continuously expanded, particularly through computer classes and IT courses, which have become the most important prerequisites for entering the working world.
The salaries of the forty or so teachers amount to € 120,000 and the overall running costs come to € 180,000 per year. The proceeds from our Ayurveda Resort Bogenvillya continue to finance a large share of these costs, but this revenue is not sufficient. By the end of 2018 we need to find a further € 40,000.
Please help us to support Sri Lanka’s next generation and offer children, adults and their families a future. I invite you to become a member of our Supporter’s Circle or to renew your membership. Donations from Austria, Germany and Switzerland are tax-deductible. You can find out more information here.
I should like to express my sincere thanks to all who help us to safeguard one world foundation for the future. Your donation will be used directly and exclusively for our education programme.
