Dear friends of one world foundation

As I am sure you know, Sri Lanka experienced horrid bomb attacks on churches and hotels this Easter. Many people died. We are deeply shaken.

one world foundation was founded in 1995 during the Sri Lankan civil war. Through its Tamil language classes and diverse culture-mediation programme for children and adults, the school, which is located in the Singhalese and hence Buddhist part of the country, performs an important peace-promoting function. Our philanthropic school project and our Ayurveda Guesthouse support the sustainable development of an entire region.

one world foundation is promoting a feeling of togetherness, here Buddhists, Hindus, Muslims and Christians are working and learning together, side by side.

The attacks of this weekend clearly show the importance of our aid project – we won’t be discouraged on our way. However, my worries about one world foundation have increased greatly as some of our guests might decide against coming to the island in the near future. And this will make it much more difficult to maintain our school programme and to cover the salaries of the forty or so teachers.

New Year festivities owf, April 2019

The Swiss Désirée Kern, financial expert and former professional ballet dancer, is taking a sabbatical and works as volunteer at one world foundation.
