Dear friends and supporters

With great joy we look back on a very special moment: together we were able to raise a glass with many people at our anniversary celebration in Vienna, while in Sri Lanka the teachers and their students reflected on a moving history full of challenges, successes and hope through exhibitions and performances. This project has only been made possible thanks to the commitment, support and trust of each and every one of you – for this we would like to express our heartfelt thanks!

30 years – three decades in which our foundation has lived through and overcome numerous crises. The one world foundation began in a time of civil war, marked by uncertainty and pain. Especially during this difficult period we all joined forces to make a statement: for hope, for education and for the vision of a better and more peaceful future.

From small beginnings something great has grown. Many people who once studied with us now take on responsibility, lead the organisation and carry our idea out into the world – such as Raji de Silva and Prabath Wijesekara. This makes us especially proud.

We recently read in our school newsletter that more than 20,000 students have now successfully completed their education at the one world foundation. Behind this impressive number are countless life stories, opportunities and dreams that might otherwise have remained unfulfilled without our foundation.

Creative exchange: Artists & Writers in Residence
Since 2011 two very special programmes have enriched our work: the Artists in Residency project, curated by Ursula Krinzinger, and the Writers in Residency project, curated by Robert Menasse. Over 40 artists and writers have since worked with us, gathered impressions and created works that remain visible at OWF to this day. We are delighted to announce that, in collaboration with Galerie Krinzinger and Eva Schlegel, we are planning a benefit auction in support of the one world foundation, to take place in spring 2026 at the Dorotheum in Vienna.

A heartfelt thank-you to all of you – to the people in Vienna, in Switzerland and everywhere our idea lives. Together we can carry the project forward and bring many more years of hope, education and new opportunities.

We would also like to draw your attention to our new film portrait. The nearly 30-minute documentary “A School of the Soul – The Living Art of the one world foundation” offers a broad insight: owf.at/a-school-of-the-soul. In the film, Robert Menasse has promised to continue the Writers in Residency project for another 30 years – perhaps with a little Ayurveda as well!
